THE AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE FICTION BULLSHEET #36 – July 21st 1995

A slack but frequent little science fiction newsletter produced
for the Australian National Science Fiction Association by Marc
Ortlieb, P.O. Box 215, Forest Hill, Vict, 3131, AUSTRALIA (e-mail:
Marc_A._Ortlieb@fc.ausom.oz.au).
Postal subscriptions $6-00 for ten issues.(Cheques made out to
Marc Ortlieb please. Stamps accepted). Available for items of
gossip. E-mail copies free. Ask to be put on the mailing list, or
grab it from aus.sf on Internet orthe Ausom FC BBS 9543 3411

STAR TREK: THE NEW AGE?
The most recent Captain's Log features an flier for a lecture by
one Jim Golding Phd(sic) who is talking about such matters as the
Star People, star seeding of humanity, time as such, ceasing to be
in 2012 and "coming home". The flier assures us that his
information and Star Trek are derived from the same source!
Sounds almost as bad as the plot for the Robinson's recent
Starmind novel. (Then again, this could be some subtle Trek
humour which is going right over my head.)

ON THE BOX
Ex-MSFC member Alison ap Rys appeared on Sale of the Century
18/7/95. She was beaten convincingly by the carry-over champion,
but got the last word in. The final question in the Fast Money
was "What sort of fiction did Isaac Asimov write?" "Science
Fiction!" exclaimed Alison. Regular Nova Mob attendee Bruce Barnes
is back on the Box. He appears as a parking inspector, someone who
obviously wouldn't listen to Fox FM in their latest advert.

IN PRINT
Katerine Phelps, author of Surf's Up: Internet Australian Style,
and sometime fan, has been increasing her media profile. Juice
magazine (July 1995) includes a photo that would grace any SCA
event and mentions that the media have dubbed her "Princess
Internet". She also features prominantly in the July 1995 issue of
Internet Australasia, in a piece called "Net Girl"
