IN PRINT

Congratulations to Garth Nix who notes "Sabriel has recently been
listed in the US as an ALA Notable Book by the American Library
Association, a Best Book for Young Adults (BBYA) by YALSA, the Young
Adult Library Services Association, and was also listed in Locus
magazine's Recommended Reading for 1996 in the January issue.

I have also just done another two book deal with HarperCollins (US)
via my agent Jill Grinberg of Scovil Chichak Galen. The first book
will be Daughter Of The Clayr, a related book to Sabriel, though not
a sequel.

My next book, Shade's Children, will be out from Allen & Unwin in
Australia in July, and in the US in October from HarperCollins. "

In a comment in aus.sf, Damien Broderick made the following comments
"Lucy Sussex's (non-sf) novel The Scarlet Rider (NY: Forge 1996)
gets a *rave* review from Julianne Chatelain in the March issue of
The New York Review of SF.

My own new sf novel The White Abacus (NY: Avon, March 1997) has been
collecting some nice comments from US reviewers, including a
*starred* review in Publishers' Weekly."

BULLSHEET MEDIA WATCH
Lucy Sussex had a review in The Saturday Age 30/3/97. Sharon Tapner
of Enterprise was noted on the Channel Nine News 29/3/97 collecting
for the Good Friday Appeal. Other science fictional matters to hit
the local media include material on Arthur C. Clarke's 3001:The
Final Odyssey and the media circus surrounding the Heaven's Gate
departures, who magazine featuring a picture of Nichelle Nichols
along with her brother, one of the dead sect members.

AUSSIECON THREE
Perry Middlemiss reports " Stephen Boucher has been appointed head
of the Facilities Division of Aussiecon Three. This is an executive
committee position with the following duties:
Facilities Division manages the hotels and convention centre use of
the con. The job of the division head is to initially set up the
working relationship between the convention, the centre, the hotels
and our accommodation agents and then to set up and manage a staff
to continue this as well as to work with programming and budget to
make most effective use of the facilities within the margins
dictated by budget.."

CONVENTION NEWS
Telecon '97 has, apparently been indefinitely postponed due to
unforseen circumstances. Note the addition of CSO and Construction.

FANZINE INFORMATION

Ben Evans mentions two fanzines I haven't seen, with associated Web
Pages "Firstly there's Cadmium Release, Australia's first (and best)
Red Dwarf fanzine. It's run by Jason and Joe Fisher, and they have a
