Retribution is the official organ of the Goon Defective Agency, or GDA. The G. D. A. (Goon Defective Agency) is probably the most famous fannishly mythological organization created in science fiction fan circles. It permeated fandom far beyond Proxyboo, Ltd., or the Steam Calliope company. John Berry was inspired to create the GDA by a nearly illegible letter he received from Ken Potter. Goon Bleary was the hero(?) of numerous fan mysteries. His misadventures were followed all over the world and everyone honed their skills to join the GDA. And quite a few of them did, from Chick Derry and Bob Pavlat to Archie Mercer and many, many more. Although Berry's stories and Arthur Thomson's (AToM) art are the core of the GDA, co-conspirators provided reports of Bleary and his fellow agents around the world. Retribution contains numerous documents showing the extent of its operations.
