November 9-11, 2001

"September 11th was a day that will not be quickly or easily forgotten. Our Artist Guest of Honor did this "quick sketch" and sent it to me as a first draft for the t-shirt art. He also told me that he would also be submitting more "traditional" artwork in case I didn't like his first idea. I told him not to bother sending anything else. (He did anyhow and the Program Book now has artwork of its own!) While this piece has no bearing or obvious reference to the works of our Author Guest of Honor (I'm pretty sure Lois will forgive me for that) nor does it have the traditional cavorting flamingoes (I'm pretty sure that SFSFS will forgive me for that), it seems appropriate somehow. I realize that others will argue with me. That's fine. The decision is one of the small perks of being co-chairman in residence... that and having the pleasure of hosting guests and con members for three days!

"In any event, this is the artwork. There will be a moderate sized print run. If you are unable to attend the convention but would like to purchase a shirt, e-mail me at tropicon§sfsfs.org and I will discuss the price and shipping arrangements with you."
