"Carnacki Institute" -- One of my additions to Ken Fletcher's Spontoon Island website. The Institute researches paradimensional travel, but has yet to have any real breakthroughs ... exceptt perhaps for retrieving a novel way to bake bagels. The founder is a total crackpot and the current admin mainly professional bureaucrats. Spontoon Island is a collaborastive effort, involving dozens of fanartists and writers, each of whom has added bits and pieces. There is no requirement for rigorous consistency, however one is expected to conform to a general 1930s gestalt.
