"The Constantine Donative" -- The very first faux McDuck story I concocted was about a Roman coin that turned up in a collection. It "proved" that all of Europe belonged to the owner, who claimed to be the heir of the emperor Constantine's donation of the empire to the Church. (There were some loose ends I needed to clear up, but that's the gist of it.) The gimmick was that Scrooge had seen other coins like it, far back in his own history. He remembers that he used to find them among the ruins of Castle McDuck, in Scotland, which sends him and his nephews to find more and settle whether or not they were genuine. It turns out they are and Scrooge is the legitimate heir of Europe. But, that was a little too greedy even for him, so he gives it back. There were complications along the way, of course. This rough sketch was the very first one for any of these bogus stories. As well as this one, there was "The Lost City of Prester John" and "Two Flags Over Barsoom." ! A final one was done as a one-page comic for Chicon just last year, "The Wheel of Utzamata."
