Bladeswoman

Bladeswoman was a DAW Books cover for one of the Marion Zimmer Bradley Sword and Sorceress series. It won a Chesley Award for Best Paperback Cover of the Year. The people at DAW had asked me to come up with something other than a curvey blonde bombshell in a bikini. They wanted a character that was more realistic, someone whom you might like and admire but someone who looked, at the same time, capable of deadly skill with a blade--in short, sort of a female Errol Flynn. Judging from the fanmail I received from females around the world, I must have come close to the mark.
