Lord of the Two Lands

This was a Tor Books cover for Judith Tarr's novel of the same name. I had always envied Michael Whelan's use of symbolism in his book covers and had even had him recommend some books on the subject, but I just lack his sense of vision in that regard. On this cover, however, I was able to tell the story of the main characters symbolically with such success that, when it was done, I fired a copy of it off to Michael, saying "See? Symbolism. I did it." I think he was amused. I am sure that he would have done far better than I, but I was proud of my effort just the same.
