Press ReleasesPress Release #27 CONJOSÉ, THE 60TH WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION For release: Monday 13 May 2002, 7:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time CONJOSÉ ANNOUNCES AT-THE-DOOR RATES ConJosé, the 2002 Worldcon, has announced its at-the-door membership rates. A full adult attending membership for ConJosé will be $200 if purchased at the door on Thursday or Friday, August 29 or 30, and $180 if purchased on Saturday, August 31. That same adult attending membership is currently $180 and will be available at that price through the end of pre-registration on July 31, 2002. Attending memberships include the right to vote in site selection for the 2005 Worldcon and the right to nominate books, stories, and other media for the 2003 Hugo awards. Single-day memberships, which include admission to the convention but do not include voting rights, will cost between $40 and $85 depending on the day for which they are purchased:
Thursday, August 29 $50
A single day child's membership (any day) will cost $15. A full child membership costs $50 until July 31, 2002 and rises to $65 for at-the door purchase. Single day child memberships can not be used to place a child in childcare during ConJosé. The cost of a single-day membership can be applied toward a full membership. For example, a person who buys a Thursday-only membership for $50 could come back on Friday and convert to a full attending for $150. An individual who buys two single day memberships will receive a $20 discount on the total cost. For example, someone who buys a Saturday membership and a Sunday membership will pay $150. An individual who buys three single day memberships for themselves will receive a $30 discount. There are specific requirements that individuals must meet to receive these discounts; check the ConJosé web pages for more details. Memberships received after the close of pre-registration will be processed as quickly as possible, but may not be finalized before the convention. Late registrants are encouraged to include an e-mail address with their information so that we can inform them of their membership status close to ConJosé. ConJosé's Masquerade, a Worldcon tradition, will be held on Saturday, August 31; the Hugo awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 1. The Dealers' Room will be open on Monday, September 2, for those who primarily want to shop.
