PROFESSIONAL NEWS
Lucy Sussex says of Mustafa Zahirovic "I met Mustafa two years ago
at a workshop I was teaching as part of a Youth festival. He
submitted an unusually good William Gibson pastiche, and asked for it
to be criticised severely! He'll be in the Omnibus anthologies."
FANDOM IS EXPANDING
The Bullsheet has it on good authority that there are currently four
fannish pregnancies in Melbourne alone.
IN THE MEDIA
Lost in Space's Jonathan Harris added Denton and Live & Sweaty to
his chat show list. Lewis Morely has been accompanying him as the
robot. A Sydney Lost in Space Convention got some coverage, on TVTV.
Radio station 3RRR has been pushing Constantinople and will have a
high profile there.
NEW AND RENEWED
Robert McGregor c9224231@wombat. newcastle.au and Terry Shadwell
(049) 48 9992. are trying to set up a Newcastle area Star Trek club.
Meanwhile, The Futurian Society of Sydney has been reborn and will
have its first meeting in April. (See Other Events)
WILLIAM WHO?
A certain large Melbourne comics & book shop that has been displaying
advertising material for Constantinople rang the committee to find
out if William Gibson was going to be in Melbourne over Easter.
ARE THYLACINES EXTINCT?
Despite certain reports of shadowy presences sighted in dense bush,
there is no positive proof of the existence of the 1995 Australian
National S.F. Convention. It is rumoured to be keeping company with
the Australian 1999 Worldcon Bid.
ALL DOLLED UP
Grant Stone, Western Australian fan and producer of The Faster Than
Light Radio Show is working on his PhD thesis, on The Barbie Doll.
Is that physiology or sociology Grant?
GUFF BALLOTS OUT
Having come to grips with fatherhood, Australian GUFF administrator
Roman Orszanski has released the 1995 Guff ballot. Candidates are
LynC, Ian Gunn & Karen Pender-Gunn and Kim Huett. (See attached
ballot.) Deadline is March 31st 1995, so there is plenty of time for
some dirty campaigning. The survivor(s) will be attending
Intersection, the 1995 Worldcon in Glasgow.
