VOERMANNS INTO GERMAN TRANSLATED HAS BEEN
Don Ashby reports that Paul Voermans has sold THE WEIRD COLONIAL BOY and AND
DISREGARDS THE REST to Heyne, a German publisher, for a five figure sum. Paul
figures that he should start writing the things in German to start off with.
Don encountered Australian author Keith Taylor, living in Avondale Heights.
Lucy Sussex reports that Dave Luckett has sold a total of four books to Omnibus,
either children's fiction or for remedial readers. In addition, her story "Quartet
in Death Minor" appeared in The Australian 5/1/95. ( The story came from The
Oxford Book of Australian Ghost Stories, but Lucy hasn't received her contributor's
copy yet. The anthology was reviewed in the Saturday Age 20/1/95) In yet another
comment, Lucy notes that Harper Collins Australia have started an sf line called
Prism. Bloodsongs #3, an Australian Horror magazine, is out and features material
by Robert Hood, Steven Paulson and Kirstyn McDermott.

Melbourne fan Karen Small was interviewed on A Current Affair 24/1/95. Nope,
nothing to do with sf, quizzes or MUSFA. Karen is an exponent of the country dance
style called boot scooting. Versatile mob fans

Send suggestions and information to P.O. Box 4024 University of Melbourne 3052.

CONVENTION UPDATES
Force One has changed its venue from the Melbourne Sheraton to the Town House.

CONVENTION RUMOURS
There have been rumours of various kerfuffles surrounding the cancellation of
Concinnity and the postponement of Voyager, with bogus phone calls to hotels,
people being pressured into showing financial accounts to others and other
assorted anonymous acts of bastardry. In the words of the late Susan Wood
"I like fandom; it's more fun than owning an ant farm."

DUDCON II
Ian Gunn reports that, bucking recent convention traditions, DudCon II went off
well. Committee Paul Ewins put together a handy convention bag including a knife,
fork, spoon paper plate, plastic cup, Flintstone bandaid, Dr Who novel (in case
the barbecue ran low on kindling) and a coathanger (in place of a condom,
one assumes). A good time was had by all. The dead-dog party lasted longer than
the convention. Paul showed two videos, but didn't take either out of its box.
