WILLIAM ATHELING JR. AWARD FOR CRITICISM OR REVIEW
Insufficent eligible nominations were received in this category for any
nominees to appear on the voting form.
No Award is also an option in each category.
This is the first time that there has been only one nominee vying with No
Award in a particular category. Given last year's rather dismal showing
in the Best Professional Artwork category, it would seem that it is a
category that needs some promotion if it is to appear on ballots in
future. The lack of interest in the Atheling is of equal concern.
See the voting form for further details.
FANDOM INVADES TV(TV)
Danny Heap and Chris Masters were seen on ABC's TVTV (13/4/95) discussing
horror, in a segment mainly centred on Freddie Kruger and the NIGHTMARE ON
ELM STREET movies. This was soon followed by artist Nick Stathopoulos
(19/4/95) discussing Ren and Stimpy and the work that he'd done for
Hanna Barbera. Jan Wilson then appeared on the same show (25/4/95)
explaining why being a Klingon allowed her to express the more violent
side of her personality. Derek Screen had to content himself with an
appearance on the Good Friday Appeal (Channel 7 14/4/95).
MORE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS
Perth fans John and Sarah McDouall have a daughter Sorchia Rhiannon, born
March 28 at 6pm and weighing in at 8lb 11oz.
FFANZ TRIP
Justin Reynolds reports that Donna Heenan "seemed to have a good time (at
Conquest), but she was distressingly well behaved whenever I was around."
Robin Johnson, who also attended, reports that the convention went well
and that Roger Zelazny brought a surprise guest with him. At the
convention, Conspiracy won the right to host the 1997 New Zealand NatCon.
They are also bidding for the right to make it the 1997 Australasian
Media NatCon, or would be if anyone could give them details of the 1995
Media NatCon at which the bid will be presented.
