IN PRINT
Jack Dann notes that he, Pamela Sargent and George Zebrowski, are
editing a new series of reprints in TPB. The current line-up is:
The Winds of Time by Chad Oliver, The Year of the Quiet Sun by
Wilson Tucker, There Will Be Time by Poul Anderson, The Voyage of
the Space Beagle by A.E. van Vogt, Galaxies by Barry N. Malzberg
and The Enemy Stars by Poul Anderson.
Jenn Vesperman notes her "The Old Killroom" has been
electronically published at 'A Companion in Zeor'
http://www.geocities.com/~rmgiroux/CZ/, also that a second piece
"My Big Sister Has Tentacles" will soon appear on the same site.
BULLSHEET MEDIA WATCH
Catherine Jinks' Eye to Eye is reviewed in The Saturday Age
31/1/98. Damien Broderick reviews Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and
Steel in The Weekend Australian 7-8/2/98.
Arthur C.Clarke's sexuality has been subject to scrutiny in almost
every form of the media over the past fortnight.
Multiverse got a good position in The Age 9/2/98, with a large
article and Wendy Purcell and Joseph Campbell as its Page Three
piccie.
FUTURE U.S. PRESIDENT BORN
Alan and Judy Wilson announce the birth of Andrew George Wilson.
Born 7:13pm Feb. 3. Weight 9lb 11oz (!!Judy is only 5'1.5" - she is
a bit bruised!). Both okay, youngster is a natural feeder.
MEDICAL MATTERS
Alan Stewart, has been undergoing further biopsies.
Jean Weber reports re Eric Lindsay's rehab "Eric's doing
outrageously well. The rehabilitation nurses are annoyed because
they put him on the most difficult exercise machines and *still*
his heart rate doesn't go as high as they want it to. Heh, heh,
must be tough having *fit* patients in rehab. Everyone still
wonders why he had the heart attack in the first place.
CONVENTION NEWS
Swancon 23 has produced another of its frequent and informative
Progress Reports. Included is the information that Swancon 23 and
the Neutral Zone will be publishing a book with material by a huge
assortment of luminaries, including Bruce Sterling, Jack Dann
Stephen Dedman, Sean Williams and Danny Heap. The book is a
fundraiser for Princess Margaret Hospital. There is also a
nomination form for this year's Tin Duck Awards. Hey. I don't
suppose those folk could be talked into taking a certain WorldCon
off Melbourne's handsnope. They're far too sensible.
Nominations for the Double Gamma Awards, to be presented at the
National Dr Who Convention in April should reach Sian O'Neale P.O.
Box 218 Toorak Vic 3142 by April 18.
Karen Miller notes a new convention, PhanCon 98 with Terry
Pratchett, David Gemmell and Sara Douglass.
AUSSIECON THREE
Nothing new to report. Medge, in town for Multiverse, was looking
for some Aussiecon Three fliers, but without any luck so far.
Hopefully the Aussiecon Three table at Multiverse will have some
for him.
