NEW HUMOROUS SF ANTHOLOGY PLANNED

	Chuck McKenzie seeks Australian humorous speculative writers to
contribute to an anthology to be released by Hybrid Publishers.
Short fiction, poetry and other forms of writing will be
considered, as long as they fall into the genre of humorous SF,
fantasy, horror or any of their subgenres. Primarily humorous
writing with speculative elements will also be considered.
	Submission is open to both published and unpublished writers,
although previously unpublished submissions are preferred. As
editor, Chuck is hoping to include work by writers from every
Australian state and territory and encourages writers from SA,
WA, NT, ACT and Queensland in particular to get in contact, as no
submissions have yet been received from these areas.
	To receive a list of submission specifications, please send a
SASE, together with some background information on yourself to
Chuck McKenzie, P.O. Box 87A, Strathfield South, NSW 2136 or call

COODE STREET REVIEWS
	The Coode Street Review of Science Fiction, launched at Aussiecon
Three, is now generally available. As its title suggests, it
consists of mainly of reviews - most of them of current
Australian Science Fiction, plus, in this issue, a brief
interview with Juliet Marillier. The opening line-up, which
includes Peter Nicholls, Dave Luckett, Damien Broderick, Sophie
Masson, Russell Blackford and Robin Pen is impressive. It will be
interesting to see how well it sells. Editors Jonathan Strahan &
Steve Paulsen are to be commended. If you can't find a copy in
your local sf specialty shop, subscriptions are available from
P.O. Box 544 Mt Lawley W.A. 6050.

IN ELECTRONS
	Ion Newcombe notes that Antipodean SF 19 contains the following
Australian stories "The No Escape Claus" Brendan Carson "The
Ultimate Hack" Andrew Sullivan and "When The Bitumen Ran Out"Rob
Riel. http://purl.nla.gov.au/NET/antisf/

BULLSHEET MEDIA WATCH
	Eric Lindsay notes "In The Australian 21/9/99 an article by Jay
Dougherty reports "Online diaries are a big hit on the Web".
Quotes '"One of the things I value most about keeping a journal
online is having a regular audience drop by to see what I'll
write next," diarist Lucy Huntzinger said.'" (Lucy was the 1987
US to Australia DUFF winner)

FAN FUNDS
	Yvonne Rousseau notes the following e-mail from Cherry Wilder
dated 21/9/99 "Linnette Horne the FFANZ winner, is in the Cardiac
Unit of Wellington Hospital, Riddiford Street, Newtown Wellington
NZ." Yvonne then added the following on September 27, again from
Cherry Wilder "Linnette Horne is recuperating at home with Sophie
the Cat".

PERIPATETIC FANS
	Lise Eisenberg appears to be one of the last Aussiecon Three
visitors to head off. She spent the weekend of September 18/19 in
Perth. Meanwhile the Ortliebs spent their traditional September
week in Adelaide, avoiding the local fans, except for a
delightful Friday night at the Jerusalem with Roman Orszanski,
Damien Warman, Juliette Woods and an assortment of the younger
Adelaide mob who seemed quite bemused by all the boring old phart
talk.

AUSSIECON THREE
	Pat McMurray notes "I have completed the 1999 Worldcon Business
Meeting Minutes. An RTF version of 291K in size and a Zipped
version 57K in size can be found at:
http://www.cooky.demon.co.uk/1999/

	Meanwhile the following attendance figures have been compiled by
Rose Mitchell:
	"Total Full, Day, Evening, Child and Infant purchased and who
registered: 1872. This figure was obtained by reconciling our
pre-con registration lists (which listed all Attending, child and
Infant memberships) with the cash register receipts for the
Registration area. Consider this figure the same as the
'turnstile' .
	Attending 1245; Child 36;Day/Evening 247; Infant 20 Total 1548
The difference of 324 'memberships' represents, 20 students
through on the Monday who attended the morning only (we charged
$20.00 for this as arranged with Ian Robinson, their tutor);
which leaves 304 return visits either as two or three days or
evenings. We did not annotate the database for child day
memberships nor evenings and would recommend in the future that
this information be kept. In all, we sold 571 day or evening
memberships. We budgeted on 200 days and 50 full memberships
walking in. 59 full memberships were sold at the door and the
impression is about 10 upgraded from supporting to attending at
the door.
	Attendance by country: Australia 851; Belgium 1; Canada 29;
Denmark 1; France 1; Germany 3; Hungary 1; Ireland 2; Japan 35;
Netherlands 8; New Zealand 48; Norway 6; China 1; Qatar 2;
Romania 2; Singapore 5; Scotland 2; South Africa 2; Sth Korea 1;
Sweden 6; UK 53; USA 488: Total: 1548
	Total Memberships: Attending 1712; Child 36; Day 247; Infant 20;
Supporting 856: Total 2871
	We budgeted on 1500 full memberships (pre-purchased) and 1000
supporting. "
	In the meantime, there appears to be genuine interest in putting
in a bid for the 2007 Worldcon, with a Melbourne NatCon in 2002
to get some more practice in. While I have no objection to
another Australian Worldcon, how's about Perth or Sydney?

NOTED

Although the Bullsheet aims to deal with Australian news, with
Alan Stewart's announcement that Thyme is likely to metamorphose
into a general fanzine, I will attempt to mention overseas items
that may be of interest to local fans in this section. The
coverage will be brief and I recommend that, for further details
on overseas news, one should go to File 770, Ansible, SF
Chronicle or Locus..
