IN PRINT
Lucy Sussex wrote: "The anthology Altered Voices, which I edited,
and which collects oz sf by the likes of all sorts of interesting
people like Sean Williams and Isobelle Carmody, will be published by
Scholastic in New York in December. (Jonathan S already has it on
the Eidolon website). It was originally called The Lottery, and for
some mysterious reason has taken five years for its US reprint. The
anthology was intended for the Young adult market, but ended up more
adult. No matter, there's some fine stories, in my biased opinion."
ON THE AIR
Jack Dann notes "Just a short note to let you know that (hurrah) my
play Marilyn or the Monster, co-authored with Brian Smith, has just
been released by the Seeing Ear Theatre on the internet. Seeing Ear
Theatre is part of the SciFi Channel.
It stars John Heard, who has appeared in Home Alone, 187,
Awakenings, and The Sopranos.
You can find Marilyn or the Monster, on-line at www.scifi.com/set "
DISAPPEARING BOOKSHOP
Branislav Milic-Zumberski notes "I am a Brisbane resident who often
goes via Rowes Arcade in Brisbane and please be advised that the
"Pulp Fiction Booksellers" shop no longer exists at this
location. The have closed down and there was no notice of where they
would,if at all, open again."
CHERRY WILDER GRIMM
Cherry notes that she has sent the following complaint to the
editors and the publisher of "Strange Constellations" (See BS 128).
"It is unfortunate that proofs were not sent to contemporary writers
who have entries in Strange Constellations the reference book or
encyclopedia recently published by Greenwood. My entry, pp140-144,
contains a number of mistakes, omissions and inaccuracies which will
never be corrected. I have seen a print-out of this single entry
sent to New Zealand by a friend. I notice that the revisionist
listing of early Ditmar awards still continues. Cherry Wilder"
I have yet to see a copy of the book. Justin Ackroyd tells me that
it sports a very heavy price tage and is not easy to obtain.
BULLSHEET MEDIA WATCH
Philippa Maddern has two pieces on holidays, in the Age's Good
Weekend 27/11/99. Damien Broderick gets an article on leisure and

PERIPATETIC FANS
Lucy Zinkiewicz is moving from the wilds of Toowomba to the wilds of
Sydney.
FAN FUNDS
Terry Frost notes "Nominations are now being taken for the Y2K Down
Under Fan Fund Race. The Down Under Fan Fund will next year send a
representative of Australasian science fiction fandom to the 58th
World Science Fiction Convention, Chicon 2000 in Chicago, between
August 31st and September 4th 2000. Nominees must be
Australasian-based fans and have three nominators from Australasia
and two from the USA. Nominations should be received by the
administrators before the 30th of December 1999. The contact address
is 4/8 Walker Street WestBrunswick, Victoria, 3055, Australia. For
more info please contact Terry Frost at hlector@netspace.net.au or
Janice Gelb in the USA at j_gelb@yahoo.com. An ability to eat
enormous servings of food and accept high levels of friendly
hospitality is essential.
Irwin Hirsh passes on the following from Dave Langford "Eve Harvey
published her completed GUFF report at Novacon a couple of weeks
ago. Paul Kincaid has voucher copies and is in touch with Bruce Pelz
about claiming the $500 SCIFI bounty on completion of a report (very
soon to be reduced to $100 for reports more than 5 years old, as
noted in Ansible)."
Meanwhile Paul Kincaid has produced GUFFaw #3, which includes
details on the 2001 race, part ten of Irwin Hirsh's GUFF report,
Bruce Gillespie's Aussiecon Three GoH Speech and Part One of Paul's
own trip report.

Now all I need to do is work out what Slash is... I assumed it was a

looking at their web site, I'm still not dead sure.
