CONVENTION NEWS
John August notes "David Bofinger, Garry Dalrymple and myself
are planning to put on a free sf con in Sydney late April/early
May. We plan to use a "small" venue, nothing like a Bowling
Club, RSL Club or other obvious venues. The "small" venues we
are thinking of will be cheap, places we can obtain through
affiliation with other groups. Our preferred venue has an in
house cafe (and cafeteria too, I think), so we will not have to
provide tea and coffee. If we go to another venue, well, we can
cover this cost."

CLUB NEWS
Rebecca Dominguez bluebec@mynx.wow.aust.com posted the following
to aus.sf "Melbourne Babyloniacs Annonymous are getting together
again to rescreen Babylon 5. (Most likely from the beginning.)
Should you be interested in joining our group to come and watch
a few episodes please reply to myself or: dexx@mynx.wow.aust.com
(he reads his email more often), we will then give you contact
details. The only price is nibblies or drinks."
The Klingon Assault Group is a not for profit Star Trek fan
organisation. There are no Dues, And our growth is based on
communication and cooperation. The Klingon Assault Group has
fleets and Squadrons, all built from members working together to
form individual warships (Shipboard type local groups). Each
person on a ship belongs to a department. Klingon Uniforms
Aren't Required, but to advance within our ranks a Uniform
will be necessary. Promotions are based solely on merit and
level of involvement. Our Members go to conventions and
intimidate other species. We help charities with food and blood
drives, like our "Feed the Earther" program or the annual "Blood
Feud".We win costume contests at conventions. We throw excellent
parties. We act honourably in contests and attempt to win to
further the interests of KAG. We share in the richness of
Klingon Culture and the Klingon Language. And did I mention
Conventions? We have inter-ship get togethers.
Why is KAG growing? Perhaps people have come to realise that
being human is boring. Perhaps they want to join the original
Party Animal species. Perhaps they appreciate the pride and
craftsmanship that goes into an armoured Klingon Uniform.
Perhaps they just want to move up the food chain. Whatever the
reason We are Awesome and getting Awesomer!
How do I join? It's about time you asked and it's never been so
simple! Just contact KAG 6/44 Montpellier Street, Clayfield QLD

THE 2000 FAAN AWARDS BALLOT
The 2000 edition of the annual Fanzine Activity Achievement
Awards will be presented at Corflu 2000, the Fanzine Fans
Convention, in Seattle, Washington, the weekend of March 3rd -
5th, 2000. Voting is open to all fans, and submission of the
ballot by Midnight, March 4th, 2000 is the only criterion for
voting eligibility. It is not necessary to physically send this
ballot for your vote to be counted:
Votes will also be accepted via e-mail at fanmailaph@aol.com,
and voting will continue through the first two days of the
convention.
Please list in order your top three choices in the categories of
Best Fanzine, Best Fanwriter, Best Fan Artist, Best Letterhack,
and Best New Fanzine Fan. Fan Writers, Fan Artists and
Letterhacks should have been active in 1999, and fanzines
published at least once during that year, to be considered
eligible for the FAAn Awards. Fans whose first fanzine activity
took place after January 1st, 1995 are eligible for the 2000
Best New Fan award. No distinction of media of reproduction or
distribution will effect a fan or fanzine's eligibility.
Results of the balloting will be tallied on the following simple
point system: A first place vote is worth five points; a second
place vote is worth three; and a third place vote is worth one
point. The individual or publication receiving the most points
in each category will receive the award.
Please mail this ballot to Andrew Hooper, 4228 Francis Ave. N. #
103, Seattle, WA 98103 USA, or e-mail to fanmailaph@aol.com.
