WORDS FROM THE KEEPER Norm took advantage of this being the end of his first volume and decided that we should put out a couple of jumbo sized zines, which he is doing. Yours truly decided to put out two regular zines once. So now you get three zines for the price of one. Two of them being by yours truly. As of next issue, both the Unknown and Mystery will merge to a regular 38- page zine: The Unknown Mystery. Brother Norman almost tried to pull a funny in NEM #3. He sure pulled a joke but it wasn't very funny. The fact of the matter is that HE'S accepted some of my rejects.{1.} The converse of that statement hasn't occurred yet. Smoke that in your pipe, Norm, ol' buddy. That part about sending all your contributions to the UX? to Norm has changed. The new address is at the front of the Unknown, for you that don't read that part. Please make sure that you send the stamps and envelope if you want your story returned. Remember NEM #1 when Norm said that the NEM wasn't going to be a wacky zine like {a} LUNAtic-like zine. You may not believe it after glancing through the Monster this time. Ol' Norman Monsters appears undecided as to just exactly what policy his zine will follow. My policy is not so vague. If I like it I'll use {it}. If I feel like it, I'll say it. So much for the policy. This issue was started approximately five minutes after the last issue was completed, so I have neither LoC's nor the opinions on what you think of the cartoon I stuck in the last issue. Speaking of last issue, I said that in UX? #3 I'd reveal the truth about Bob Howard and Catin, remember? Well, I decided that I wouldn't. Hold it! Don't blow up yet. The revelation isn't in the UX? #3, true; I put it in Mystery #1 just to make sure that you would read it. Surprise. Atlantis #2 or 3 should be out by now, if Tim & Timm are keeping on schedule, so I'll close with a free plug for them. If you want a copy of either #2 or #3, or both, send 20 cents for each copy you want to: Tim Morris 1360 Nancywood Drive Pontiac, Mich. or Timm Wall 4555 Major Drive Drayton Plains, Mich. THE KEEPER John Merkel [pp. 1 - 2, THE UNKNOWN #3, Fall 1965] {l. These were Gregg Wolford's "Souvenir" printed in NEM #3 & his "Train of Thought" run in NEM #5. Joheme preferred running his own Catin tales. ;) -- Monsters, 7.April.2001}
