Marjii Ellers, Ben Jason w72m002.jpeg [28KB]: "The Black Queen from Barbarella" as reimagined by Marjii Ellers. While Marjii liked the character, she felt that the Black Queen had not been portrayed as "a dynamic and powerful woman" in the movie. So she designed a wig that would convey the queen's "wildness in upthrusting, outgoing unconstructed lines, curving beautifully, but in no way lying passively." (You tell them, Marjii!) Marjii continued this line of thought throughout the entire costume. She made the wig over a multi-tiered wire frame and covered with black coq feathers. She then constructed a gold-leafed horn and sequin crown together for her headpiece and added feathers to the cap sleeves and hem of her breast revealing mini dress. The look was completed by long gloves, black hose and black Roman sandals. Marjii also made her earrings from diffraction-grating and jet black beads and threw in a sprinkling of black sequins for some added pizazz. (...like the topless wasn't enough...;) All that and she made her banner to win the "Judges' Choice" award. btw--Marjii was also called, "The sexiest grandmother in Fandom" because she was 54 at the time she presented her costume. Isn't she amazing?
