Another view of Marjii Ellers as the Black Queen. Here you can see the banner she made for the presentation. Marjii put in alot of thought into the banner so that she was able to assemble it at the con: she covered the long dowel with gold walpaper and used contact cement (her favorite adhesive for just about everything) to glue 2 yardsticks to the top & bottom of the red fabric. Then the fabric was hung from the dowel with black yarn knotted into tassels and finally she glued on the letters she cut out from black vinyl. She revealed that she had spent 2 days shopping for the materials ($15 for the feathers & 88 cents (yes! I wrote "cents"!) for the fabric (!) and spent 5 days making the costume. (Wow! beautiful and practical!) BTW--if you ever get a copy of Mike Resnick's "Masquerade" magazine, you'll find a ton of useful and interesting information like this; especially if you like costumes and even if you don't. It's one of the best masquerade publications ever!!
