ConJosé FAQ

What is ConJosé? - ConJosé is the 60th World Science Fiction Convention or Worldcon. For more information about Worldcon click here.

When will it take place? - Thursday, August 29 through Monday, September 2, 2002.

Where will it take place? - Most of the action will take place in The McEnery Convention Center, San José, California. Major events such as the Hugo Ceremony and Masquerade will be in the 3,000 seat Civic Auditorium which is directly across the road from the McEnery. Some events will occur in nearby theatres and hotels.

How much will it cost? - For details of our current membership rates click here. Please note that these rates will increase as we get closer to the start of the convention. It will be possible to buy a membership for individual days, but it will be always be cheaper to buy a membership for the whole convention than for the five days individually.

What can I expect to get for my money? - For more information about what goes on at a Worldcon click here. Details of the precise programme of events that ConJosé will be offering will appear on this web site as soon as they are available.

Will I need to stay in a hotel? - There is no requirement to stay in a hotel, nor do you have to be a hotel guest to participate in ConJosé functions held in hotels. However, even if you live fairly locally, you may like to book a hotel room close to the convention as many events, especially the parties, go on into the early hours of the morning. For details of hotel accomodation click here.

Is the convention suitable for children? - ConJosé welcomes child members and will be providing some childcare facilities for the benefit of members with children (for details click here). However, much of the program will involve discussion panels and similar events which may go over the heads of younger children.

Will the convention cater for handicapped members? - ConJosé is committed to doing the best it can to make the convention accessible for handicapped members. For more information click here.
