SAN FRANCISCO IN 2002 EXPANDS CROSS-GRADE OFFER AGAIN

San Francisco in 2002 has agreed to a further expansion of  the "cross-grade"  offer to Seattle in 2002 bid supporters announced in November  1998. If you pre-supported both SF2002 and Seattle, you can apply the $10 cost of the   Seattle pre-supporting membership toward the cost of upgrading from SF2002 pre-supporter  to a Friend of the San Francisco Bid (normally $100). If you  pre-supported both bids,  upgrading to Friend costs $70. If you pre-supported only Seattle, upgrading to Friend will  cost $90. Like the original cross-grade offer, this offer is good through April 5, 1999.

The existing cross-grade offer, announced in November and expanded in January to cover  all of Seattle's membership classes, remains the same. Pre-supporting  members of  Seattle in 2002 have $10 credit toward the cost of a San Francisco in 2002 pre-supporting,  pre-opposing, or Friend of the Bid membership. Seattle  Friends and Bid Committee have $10  credit toward an SF2002 pre-supporting or pre-opposing membership and $50 credit toward an  SF2002 Friend of the Bid Membership.

Pre-supporting (and other classes) of Seattle in 2002 members may purchase a  pre-supporting membership in the San Francisco in 2002 Worldcon bid for $10.01,  the  difference in price between pre-supporting memberships in the two bids. Pre-supporting  memberships for Seattle in 2002 were $10.01. Pre-supporting  memberships in San Francisco  in 2002 are $20.02. Friend of the Bid memberships in San Francisco in 2002 are normally  $100.

Seattle Friends and Bid Committee may become SF2002 Friends for $50, or $40  if they  previously cross-graded to SF2002 pre-support status.

Pre-supporting members of the San Francisco in 2002 Worldcon Bid receive a  brass  cable-car pin premium, Bid progress reports, and will receive at least a $20 discount off  the price of an attending membership in the 2002 Worldcon should  San Francisco be selected  in the election to be conducted at the 1999 Worldcon, Aussiecon Three.

Friends of the San Francisco in 2002 Worldcon Bid receive the pre-supporter  premiums, a  Land's End ™ shirt with the SF in 2002 logo, and at least a $60 discount off the  price of an attending membership in the 2002 Worldcon should  San Francisco be selected.  Friends who also vote in the 2002 site selection receive automatic attending membership in  the 2002 Worldcon should San Francisco be selected.

Seattle in 2002 announced last year that they would have to withdraw from the site  selection race due to their being unable to obtain an agreement with the  hotels in the  downtown Seattle area. The cross-grade/upgrade offer allows pre-supporters and friends of  the Seattle Bid to "protect their investment" in the 2002 Worldcon.

The additional expansion of the cross-grade offer is being made available thanks to the  cooperation of the Seattle in 2002 Worldcon Bid, which will be assisting with the  validation of eligibility for the offer.

To take advantage of this offer, send check or money order (payable to SFSFC Inc.), or  credit card (Visa/MasterCard/Discover/American Express) information  (card number,  expiration date, name on card, signature; charge will be in US Dollars and will appear as  "S F S F C INC") to SAN FRANCISCO IN 2002,  Cross-Grade Membership Offer, PO Box  61363, Sunnyvale CA 94088-1363. If cross-grading to SF2002 Friend, include shirt size  (Men's/Women's S/M/L/XL/2X) and color preferences.

These cross-grade and upgrade offers are subject to verification of membership in the  Seattle and San Francisco bids.

San Francisco in 2002, a committee of San  Francisco Science Fiction Conventions, Inc. (the parent corporation of ConFrancisco, the  1993 Worldcon) is bidding for the right to  host the 2002 Worldcon. Members of Aussiecon  Three, the 1999 Worldcon in Melbourne, Australia, will vote to choose the site of the 2002  Worldcon.
